After the 1961/62 season, the single First division and double Second division was introduced, leaving Landsdelsserien as only the third highest league. The latter changed its name to the Third division, with the current Third division effectively becoming the Fourth division. In addition the league was from now on played in spring-fall, and not in fall-spring.
