Match report ------------ Efficient. This is the best way to describe the Norwegian performance in Parken on Wednesday. In all the Norwegian team had four opportunities, which resulted in two goals, one situation where the referee should have given a penalty, and one missed shot. Defensively, Norway were back to their usual best, and hardly allowed the Danes shots on target, apart from in the opening 20 minutes, which the home side really dominated. Both goals were classical in the Norwegian way. The first came off a long pint by Grodås, which was headed on by H. Flo into the path of an advancing Leo, who netted past Schmeichel. The second goal came from an accurate corner kick by Bjørnebye, which was met by T.A. Flo. Unfortunately, for the Danes, he was being marked by M. Laudrup, not exactly their best header of the ball, so Flo had an easy time directing the header past Krogh. Of the players, the full backs, Eggen and Berg, were very solid, as was Solbakken in midfield. The wing backs, the Nilsen brothers, were not as effective, and had a terrible cross pass each. The midfield worked tremendously hard, and disciplined, and up front T.A. Flo showed in glimpses his excellent class, like when he was brought down from behind at 0-2, and the referee somehow managed to wave play on instead of pointing to the penalty spot. Now, there are two more games before the WC, both at home. The first at Bislet on May 20 against Mexico. Still, Norway are undefeated since January 1997, and that after three tough away games. Long may it continue.
