Viking - Lillestrøm 2-0 (1-0) Stavanger stadion Att: 4229 1-0 Egil Ulfstein (18) 2-0 Egil Østenstad (55) Yellow card: Thomas Berntsen, Anders Jacobsen, Lillestrøm, Øyvind Mellemstrand, Viking. - In Saturday's televised game on a very wet Stavanger stadion, the home side won thanks to a much better team performance. The Viking-players worked hard and fought for each other, on the slippery and very difficult pitch. They are now unbeaten since the WC-break, and are looking good bets for the silver or bronze medals. So are LSK, despite this set-back. The visitors were without several key players such as Dennis Schiller and K. Ingebrigtsen. Man-of-the-match was Ulfstein, Viking, who stopped Ronny Johnsen effectively, and also scored the opener on a very good header after a corner. Østenstad grabbed the second after a goal-mouth scramble. Brann - Hamarkameratene 2-2 (2-0) Brann stadion Att: 7995 1-0 Eivind Karlsbakk (14) 2-0 Karlsbakk (35) 2-1 Frode Aurmo (65) 2-2 Sven Erik Sætre (pen. 81) Yellow card: Klaus Lundekvam, Frank Strandli, Brann, Knut Erik Folland, Tom Henning Hovi, Stian Hagelund, Stein Arne Ingelstad, Hamarkameratene. - The home side appeared to have won this game at half time after two fine goals by youngster Karlsbakk, who overshadowed his more famous team-mates Strandli and Soltvedt. In the second half, though Ham-Kam fought back with a beautiful header from Aurmo and a penalty after Ingelstad was brought down. The visitors could even have won the game in the dying minutes when they were denied a second penalty by the ref after Ingelstad was tackled once more. However, that would have been unjust, beacuse Brann had really dominated in the first hour of the game. Rosenborg - Bodø/Glimt 4-2 (2-1) Lerkendal stadion Att: 8177 1-0 Harald Brattbakk (8) 1-1 Arild Berg (24) 2-1 Karl-Petter Løken (26) 2-2 Bent Inge Johnsen (55) 3-2 Mini Jakobsen (66) 4-2 Brattbakk (76) Yellow card: Arild Berg, Bodø/Glimt. - Rosenborg came back to winning ways after losing in Hamar last week. But they were pushed all the way by B/G which are now playing much better than the position in the table indicates. For large spells they dominated the home side, twice equalized the RBK lead, but couldn't do it the third time the champions went ahead. In the last 15 minutes RBK could have scored two or three more goals, as B/G had ran out of steam. RBK are now 10 points clear with a game in hand, and even coach Eggen is now talking about a possible championship :-) For B/G the situation is desperate, but not hopeless. With the same gutsy display in the next games they are bound to win a few games. I'll stick my neck out and predict they don't go down after all! Start - Sogndal 2-1 (1-1) Kristiansand stadion Att: 3420 1-0 Petter Belsvik (1) 1-1 Kai Erik Moen (26) 2-1 Tore André Dahlum (52) Yellow card: Tore Løvland, Start, Kai Erik Moen, Sogndal. - The home side took the lead after one minute and created enough good chances in the next quarter to be even further ahead. However, the good play faded away when it started raining. Not surprisingly, as we all know that Start only play well when the grass is green and the sun is shining :-) Sogndal, on the other hand, are used to bad weather :-) and thus equalized after a corner. The rest of the game was pretty even, but striker Dahlum game the home side the lead once more. Both Aune and Flo could and should have levelled the score late in the second half, but it wasn't to be. Thus, Sogndal are still very much involved in the relegation battle, whereas Start are in no-man's land. Strømsgodset - Kongsvinger 2-3 (1-1) Marienlyst stadion Att: 2658 1-0 Krister Isaksen (2) 1-1 Vidar Riseth (17) 2-1 Isaksen (51) 2-2 Geir Frigård (67) 2-3 Bjørn Arild Levernes (78) Yellow card: Jørn Karlsrud, Kongsvinger. - SIF was defeated for the seventh game running, but this time the home side was unlucky not to earn at least a draw. They took the lead twice by Isaksen, but defensive errors let KIL into the game. The winnning goal from Levernes was a beauty, an elegant chip into the right corner from just inside the penalty area on the left. SIF must really win at least 3 of their remaining games to stand any chance at all of escaping relegation. I don't think they're capable of that, so I'll stick my neck out once more and predict first division football at Marienlyst next season. VIF Fotball - Tromsø 4-0 (1-0) Ullevaal stadion Att: 3740 1-0 Ståle Andersen (45) 2-0 Knut Aga jr. (52) 3-0 Terje Olsen (pen. 60) 4-0 Aga jr. (64) Yellow card: Morten Kihle, VIF Fotball, Tor Pedersen, Tromsø. - Together with 3739 others (plus the usual few hundred free entrants) I was at this game to witness the best performance of the season from the home side. After an even first half VIF went ahead just before the break when a shot from Andersen deflected off a TIL-defender, giving keeper Grenersen no chance. The goal appeared to have demoralised the visitors, because in the second half there were only one team on the field. VIF completely outplayed and outfought TIL for the whole 45 minutes, and could have scored even more goals then the three they did score. Former left back Aga, who has been a revelation after being moved up front, scored two good goals and was the man being tackled when the penalty was awarded. The Oslo-side has now three wins in four matches after switching from a 4-5-1 to a 4-3-3 formation, and has scored 12 goals in these matches. Quite a change from the fall, when they defended well, but were unable to score goals or even create goalscoring opportunities. With this kind of play they should manage to stay up, or at least I hope so (despite being Lyn-supporter, does that make me a non-genuine supporter? :-)).
