With a well-earned draw Brann qualify for the quarterfinals in March, and thus becoming the first Norwegian team in a European Cup quarterfinal since Lyn made it in the 1968/69 season! This result was very important for Brann, but also for Norwegian football as a whole, as it shows that you don't have to come from Trondheim to do well in Europe :-) I would rank this results against the Dutch league leaders as one of the best Norwegian club performances ever, as PSV is certainly not a small club. What was also incredible in the performance was that it was Brann which took their chances, whereas PSV missed theirs. Usually it's the other way around when Norwegian teams face international competition. Of course the home team dominated for long spells yesterday, but Brann dominated PSV in Bergen, so over the two legs the result is not undeserved. The defeat must still has come as a big shock for the Dutch and PSV supporters. Losing against teams from Norway is certainly not expected. The draw for the quarterfinals is in December. In 1968/69 Lyn lost against Barcelona, and that club could theoretically be Brann's opponents as well.
