UEFA Cup, first round, first leg (16/9) ================================ Twente (Netherlands) - Lillestrøm 0-1 (0-1) Att: 8500 0-1 Mamadou Diallo (pen. 25). Referee: Andreas Georgiou, Cyprus. Yellow card: Mamadou Diallo, Magnus Kihlstedt, Lillestrøm, André Karnebeek, Twente. - An excellent away win for LSK in the Netherlands. Once more their hero was Diallo, who converted a penalty after first being tackled. Although the home side had much of the pressure, the Norwegians defended well for 90 minutes. However, Twente will obviously still fancy their chances in the return leg, so LSK will have to work equally hard on that night. UEFA Cup, first round, second leg (30/9) ================================= Lillestrøm - Twente 1-2 (0-0), agg. 2-2, Twente on away goals. Att: 3473 0-1 Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (56) 1-1 Mamadou Diallo (pen. 89) 1-2 Jan van Halst (pen. 90). Referee: Bernard Saules, France. Yellow card: Peter Werni, Lillestrøm, Erik ten Hag, Twente. Red card: Peter Werni (90), Lillestrøm. - A very dramatic final minutes sent Twente through to the second round on away goals. LSK opted to play defensively from the start, and were able to contain the more fluent Dutch for almost an hour. After that the visitors continued to attack, but on one of LSK's few attacks Solbakken was fouled in the area and Diallo scored the equalizer. Everybody thought that the Sengalean had sent the Norwegians to the next round. However, two minutes into injury time Twente were awarded a penalty themselves after Werni handled on the line. He was sent off and van Halst converted for the Dutch. Cruel on the home side, but hardly undeserved as Twente had been much the better side on the night.
