Match report ------------ Another convincing display by Norway in their preparation for the WC. However, as Mexico rested six of their possible starters, becuase of the very bad condition of the Bislett pitch, the game really didn't provide any answers to the relative strength of the teams. Four of the Norwegian goals came from headers or rebounds after set-pieces (three corners, and one free-kick) from Bjørnebye, as Norway were very superior in the air. The first goal was a wonderful Strand chip. The two Mexican goals were the result of slack Norwegian defending. In particular Berg was guilty when he didn't clear the ball properly for the second goal. Generally, the first half was the more entertaining, and Norway completely dominated their visitors both in the air, and along the ground. After the break the Mexicans gradually worked themselves into the game, as Norway faded, obviously content with the score. Of the Norwegian players, H. Flo had a very good game, also with his feets, and Mykland was a terrier in midfield. Bjørnebye was back to his old self, delivering pin-point accurate crosses. However, Solskjær didn't impress much, and neither Halle, nor Berg or Johnsen, had faultless displays. Østenstad had a pretty good game as the lone striker, although he should have scored when clean through on goal in the second half. The last preparation game is against Saudi-Arabia on Wednesday, May 27, and the day after the 22-man WC squad is announced by Drillo.
