Champions League, group B, round 1 (16/9) ================================== Athletic Bilbao - Rosenborg 1-1 (1-0) San Mames Att: 35 000 1-0 Joseba Etxeberria (6) 1-1 Roar Strand (65) Referee: Vasilij Melnitsjuk, Ukraine. Yellow card: Jahn Ivar Jakobsen (21), Erik Hoftun (76), Runar Berg (88), Rosenborg, Santiago Ezquerro (75), José Maria Lacruz (87), Athletic Bilbao. - After a shaky first 15 minutes, which the Basques dominated completely and also managed to take the lead, RBK gradually worked themselves into the game. In the second half, there was no surprise when Strand equalized on a well-placed shot from 20 metres. After that, the Norwegians controlled the play well, never allowing the Basques too many opportunites at goal. In general, one of RBK's better away performances in the Champions League, and a good start to the tournament. Champions League, group B, round 2 (30/9) ================================== Rosenborg - Juventus (Italy) 1-1 (0-1) Lerkendal stadion Att: 15 385 0-1 Filippo Inzaghi (27) 1-1 Bent Skammelsrud (pen. 69) Referee: Amand Ancion, Belgium. Yellow card: Runar Berg, Rosenborg, Alessandro Birindelli, Zoran Mircovic, Alessio Tacchinardi, Juventus. - A draw against one of the best teams in the world is nothing to be disappointed about, but the fact remains that this was a game RBK should have won. Their second half was probably the best half played by any Norwegian club ever. After going behind to a lucky deflected shot in an even first half, the Italians were put under intense pressure from the start of the second. Especially in the last 30 minutes (after substituting Rushfeldt with Dahlum) Rosenborg were in total control. They were awarded one, slightly dubious, penalty which Skammelsrud scored on, and 10 minutes from the end RBK were awarded a second, unquestionable. This time, however, the spot kick from Skammelsrud was saved by Rampulla, and the chance of a upset was gone. A pity, as apart from the missed penalty, RBK had half a dozen other opportunities they could easily have scored from. Now, the next game, at home to Galatasaray, the group leaders, will be crucial. A win is a must if RBK want to go through. Champions League, group B, round 3 (25/10) ================================== Rosenborg - Galatasaray (Turkey) 3-0 (0-0) Lerkendal Att: 15 372 1-0 Sigurd Rushfeldt (69) 2-0 Rushfeldt (86) 3-0 Rushfeldt (90) Referee: Nikolaj Levnikov, Russia. Yellow card: Bjørn Otto Bragstad, Rosenborg, Ümit Davala, Vedat Inceefe, Galatasaray. Red card: Vedat Inceefe (78), Galatasaray. - An impressive score by Rosenborg, even though it was closer on the field than the scoreline suggests. Big hero was Rushfeldt who scored all three goals in the second half. However, RBK didn't play one of their best games at Lerkendal, and their usual fast combinations was not seen before after Vedat was sent off. Not that Gala were any better, as substitute goalkeeper Arason only had to make one really good save all night. Now, after the 0-0 draw in Bilbao, Rosenborg find themselves at the top of group B with 5 points, one more than Gala and two ahead of Juve. The return match in Istanbul in two weeks time will be crucial when it comes to deciding the group. A draw is an excellent result for RBK. Champions League, group B, round 4 (4/11) ================================== Galatasaray (Turkey) - Rosenborg 3-0 (0-0) Ali Sami Yen stadium Att: 23 700 1-0 Hakan Sükür (55) 2-0 Arif Erdem (66) 3-0 Hakan (74) Referee: Hellmut Krug, Germany. Yellow card: Christer Basma, Bent Inge Johnsen, Rosenborg. - After having contained Galatasaray for the whole of the first half, and even creating the best opportunity, only for Rushfeldt to shoot into the side netting, Rosenborg fell apart after the break. That half is probably the worst half the Norwegians have played in Champions League ever. All goals came from defensive mistakes and times they couldn't string three passes together. Of course having played extra time in the Norwegian cup final three days before, didn't do the players any good, and that showed. Still, with Juve only drawing once more, RBK are now second, but a win in the next game against Athletic is crucial, if they want to challenge for the top position in the group. Champions League, group B, round 5 (25/11) ================================== Rosenborg - Athletic Bilbao (Spain) 2-1 (1-0) Lerkendal Att: 15 454 1-0 Jan Derek Sørensen (2) 2-0 Sørensen (50) 2-1 Jorge Perez (90) Referee: Bernd Heynemann, Germany. Yellow card: Bent Skammelsrud, Morten Pedersen, Rosenborg, Felipe, Athletic Bilbao. Champions League, group B, round 6 (9/12) ================================== Juventus (Italy) - Rosenborg 2-0 (2-0) Stadio delle Alpi Att: 30 000 1-0 Filippo Inzaghi (16) 2-0 Nicola Amoruso (36) Referee: Mario van der Ende, Netherlands. Yellow card: Antonio Conte, Juventus, Børge Hernes, Rosenborg.
