- An excellent result for Rosenborg before the second leg in Trondheim. 
  The game was a very cautious affair, with the home team content to
  sit back and wait for the counters in the first half. After the break, 
  Alaves got the break-through, and more goals threatened. However,
  Johnsen scored an excellent headed equaliser after the home keeper was
  caught out of posession.

- Despite holding the advantage going into the game, Rosenborg were
  a bit surprisingly knocked out of the UEFA Cup at the final whistle.
  Alaves are a solid, well-organised side that relies on the counter-
  attacks, and scored three easy goals (on four chances) without reply 
  which settled the issue rather early. For Rosenborg, the long season 
  and the last month without competitive practice seemed to take its 
  toll on the players. And especially in defence, where Hoftun and 
  Johnsen between them gifted the visitors all three goals. A sad
  end to an otherwise good Rosenborg season.
