Champions League, group E, round 2 (18/9) ================================== Rosenborg - Porto 1-2 (0-1) Lerkendal Att: 20.007 0-1 Jesus Pena (10) 0-2 Deco (60) 1-2 Sigurd Rushfeldt (90) Referee: Graham Barber, England. Yellow card: Harald Martin Brattbakk (6), Rosenborg, Jorge Costa (30), Mario Da Silva (87), Jorge Andrade (90), Helmer Postiga (90), Porto. - Porto surprised Rosenborg with an offensive attitude, and took an early lead. The home team had their chances to equalize (Skammelsrund hit the crossbar) before the break, but in the second half the visitors showed their superiority and added a second goal. In the end, a well deserved win for Porto, and a bad start for RBK. Champions League, group E, round 3 (25/9) ================================== Rosenborg - Juventus 1-1 (0-0) Lerkendal Att: 20.748 0-1 Alessandro Del Piero (85) 1-1 Bent Skammelsrud (pen. 88) Referee: Jan Wegereef, Netherlands. Yellow card: Frode Johnsen (64), Ørjan Berg (80), Rosenborg, Lilian Thuram (4), Gianluca Zambrotta (68), Gianluigi Buffon (88), Juventus. - A much better performance by RBK. However, Juve should have won this game based on the second half performance, when the visitors hit the woodwork three times before Del Piero finally gave them the lead. However, few minutes later Brattbakk was brought down and Skammelsrud levelled the game from the spot. Still, a single point from two home games makes qualification for the second group phase and uphill task for Rosenborg. Champions League, group E, round 1 (10/10) ================================== Celtic (Scotland) - Rosenborg 1-0 (1-0) Celtic Park Att: 57.232 1-0 Alan Thompson (21) Referee: Alain Sars, France. Yellow card: Janne Saarinen, Rosenborg. - Originally postponed from September 12 because of terrorist attacks in USA. Another defeat for Rosenborg, when Thompson struck a freekick through a RBK wall early on. The rest of the game was pretty even in terms of posession, but once again the Norwegians failed to create any clear-cut chances. Qualification for the next round looks very difficult now. Champions League, group E, round 4 (17/10) ================================== Juventus (Italy) - Rosenborg 1-0 (1-0) Stadio delle Alpi Att: 38.642 1-0 David Trezeguet (25) Referee: Graham Poll, England. - As expected the gulf in class between the two sides was big. Juve did what they had to do, but little more. RBK keeper Arason had a good game saving his team on several occations. Five minutes from Strand could have equalized on RBK's only chance of the game when he shot straight at the keeper from close range, but that would have been daylight robbery. Champions League, group E, round 5 (23/10) ================================== Rosenborg - Celtic (Scotland) 2-0 (2-0) Lerkendal stadion Att: 21.540 1-0 Harald Martin Brattbakk (19) 2-0 Brattbakk (36) Referee: Juan Antonio Fernandez Marín, Spain. Yellow card: Christer Basma, Janne Saarinen, Rosenborg, Stilian Petrov, Neil Lennon, Celtic. - Finally, a good game from Rosenborg which was crowned by a win and three points which keeps their slim chance of advancing alive before the last round. Of course it was old Celtic player Brattbakk who did the damage with two well-taken goals. Skamelsrud could have made it 3-0 from the penalty spot just before halftime, but missed. However, the win was not in very much danger despite Celtic pushing all players forward in the last quarter. Champions League, group E, round 6 (31/10) ================================== Porto (Portugal) - Rosenborg 1-0 (1-0) Estadio das Antas Att: 31.429 1-0 Jesus Pena (37) Referee: Hartmut Strampe, Germany. Yellow card: Roar Strand, Rosenborg, Mario Silva, Porto. - As expected RBK crashed to their third straight 0-1 deafeat away from home in this year's CL. This was also their 10th straight away defeat in the competition, clearly indicating where the trouble is. Frankly, the result flatters Rosenborg as Porto outplayed the visitors completely in the first half and should have taken at least a four goal lead if it wasn't for the heroics of Arason in goal and some inept Porto forwards. After the break, the Norwegians raised their game, but was never close in advancing to the next round, which is just as well as this RBK side is not one of their best as has been evident in the Norwegian premier division all season.
